Join me for 35 mins of stultifying vlog as I modernise a 1908 pattern of an Edwardian walking skirt for my current wardrobe. 🙂
I discovered a five Panel Skirt pattern at “La Couturière Parisienne” http://marquise.de/en/1900/schnitte/s… (Main Edwardian page)
http://marquise.de/en/1900/schnitte/s… (pattern GIF). I thought this pattern would make up beautifully into a winter skirt with this lovely wool blend that I found in Spotlight: https://www.spotlightstores.com/by-th… Only I didn’t want to go full Edwardian on this one, so I made a few changes.
Apart from the new below the knee length, I worked with a more modern lining method (bag lining as opposed to flat lining) and added welt pockets to the side of the skirt.
Is your interest mostly in adding a pocket to your existing skirt, or do you want to learn more about welt pockets? Jump to 8:30 where I start chatting about pockets, or 13:38 where I start talking about drafting and sewing the welt pocket.
