Elegant, sophisticated and all so practical, how could I go past this “Many ways” dress with its clever collar changes. I took my inspiration from a 1938 Sears and Roebucks catalogue – a practical dress with shoulder shirring, waistline pleats and elegant puffed sleeves.

The McCall’s M7838 shirt pattern has a lovely pleated sleeve that puts me in mind of a modernised Victorian shirt.
